Ladies Love Flatbed

They say it's hard and a lot of men don't want to do it but we've seen a lot of lovely skateboard driving ladies lately. It's nice to see a man's world made into a nice place for a lady to land. Jennifer is driving locally for Queen's Trucking, a job fit for a Queen! Drive safe! Jennifer Jessie

Spirit CDL Teamers

Justin Hauser and Ed Hopper met in our January 2014 class. Both men are highly motivated and genuine; they hit it off instantly. Justin started driving first and not long after Ed completed the team. They currently drive for Schneider's dry van division but are looking to change divisions over to tanker. Drive safe boys! Hauser and Hopper

Spirit CDL Graduate

Graduate Eubanks
We're so proud of our graduate, Bree Eubanks!

Bree, a female flatbedder currently working for a local Rockford trucking company, RL Leek, recently did a TV interview and is scheduled to be in an upcoming issue of "Women in Trucking Magazine". Bree has been driving for about a year and previously held a local flatbedding job out of Sterling and spent some time with a nationwide starter company.

Many women are entering the trucking industry and even more are considering it. Though most hit the road in a sleeper truck with a dry van there are other opportunities such as flatbed, curtainside, tanker and gravel truck to name a few. The jobs are prevalent and the pay is equal; a great career for a lady.

Scholarship Giveaway

Congratulations to David D. of Rockford, IL our Boone County Fair 2014 Scholarship winner! David will be joining us for the September 2014 class, guess he's in a hurry to get his CDL and hit the road. Congratulations David! Thank you to all that participated, there was a one in 60 chance of winning, not bad odds.

Trucks are for Girls

At one time women were scarce in the trucking world but times are changing; more women are realizing this is a good job where they can make as much money as their male counterparts. Women no longer stay at home and wait for their trucking husbands to stop in, now they hit the road sharing the responsibility and wages.

Don't Drive Tired

Ken Bons of Spirit CDL speaks with WTVO News reporter Phillip Reed regarding sleep depravation. Driving tired could be a life threatening situation especially when you have the responsibility of a large vehicle.

Party Time

Spirit CDL takes a stand on drinking and driving! You don't have to be drunk to end the world as you know it, just having A drink might be enough. Illinois Truck Driving School

Alcohol relaxes you and lowers your inhabitions, a nice thing when you're at a party or sitting at home but seriously, behind the wheel relaxation and lower inhabitions can be a life changer.

Here in Illinois a driver is required to consent to testing to obtain a blood-alcohol concentration, (BAC). If a driver has a CDL they can not operate a commercial vehicle with a BAC of .04 or higher; if they are driving their personal car or any other non-commercial vehicle their BAC can not be .08 or higher.

Illinois Truck Driving SchoolWould you like to have a year off? Well that's the minimum you'll get if you refuse to submit to alcohol testing, regardless of being in your car or your company truck. If you have a BAC equal to or in excess of the legal limit, .08 for your car or .04 for your truck, you will be disqualified from driving commercially for a minimum of twelve months. If you are convicted of DUI, (regardless of BAC), you will be disqualified for a minimum 12 months.

Are you hauling placarded hazardous materials? If your load is hazmat and you refuse to test, have BAC results equal to or higher than .04 or you're convicted of a DUI you will be automatically disqualified for a minimum of three years.

A driver who commits two of the above violations, arising from two or more incidents, will be disqualified for life.

Illinois Truck Driving SchoolMost people caught drinking and driving didn't seriously consider what could/did happen to them.

They thought...
Make a policy not to drink and drive and all these little excuses won't be the decision that changed your life.
